Modes of Transportation in the Cities of Myanmar

One of the most profitable things in traveling to a foreign country is to know well how to use public transportations. Chances are using pubic transportations cost us lesser. By that we can save more money.

If you are interested to use public transportations in Cities of Myanmar, you might like to try it too. But public transportation used in Myanmar cities is not as convenient as other countries.

For Domestic travels, Air Plane is the most used especially for foreigners (Tourists). There are Air Line companies such as Myanma Airways, Yangon Airways, Mandalay Airways, Air Bagan etc. Aside from Airline, Rails and Buses are popular which are mostly used by local travelers.

Airlines are a little bit costly. If you take Air plane that is the best way to save your time and you can be freed from body ache dues to riding a bus or Train. You can check all those airline companies anytime you like. Or just contact if your travel agency if you are travelling by Travel Agents.

Within the cities, Buses are the main mode of transportations. In the City of Yangon, Bus liners are available almost anywhere you would like to go. However, the bus lines are arranged according to the number. For instance, if you would like to travel from Sule Pagoda to Insein, you will take No.45 Bus or 43 Mini Bus. Aside from Buses, there are also Dyna simi-Trucks, Hilux. They too are running across the city according to the number.

On the body of the Buses or Hilux, the bus stops names, township names where the line runs through are written. But all those letters are written in Burmese. The best thing you can learn since you might now know how to read Burmese, just try to memorize the line number. And it is always free for you as a Tourist to ask people if you are not sure which bus line to ride.

These are the major transportations means in Yangon City. In the streets of community, side-car driven by man-power is also popular.

In some other cities Motor-cycle is also widely used. There are China made motor cycles and Japan made. But in Yangon city, motor cycle riding is not allowed in major roads.

To some foreigners, they don’t find the local transportations so convenient therefore Taxi is usually hired. Yet, there are a good number of Taxi services to find in Yangon city itself but in some other major cities, Taxi is hard to find if you are in a hurry. So the best thing to do is, always contact with the receptionist at the Hotel you stay. The hotel normally has a certain Car Rent company contracted. Therefore just go along with the direction given by the receptionist at the Hotel.

However, if you are fond of adventure and want to try new thing by your own, you may do it by your own way too.

If you were like me, I would rather choose to take public transportations provided that the place where I visit is safe even without knowing the local dialect. I love to have new experience. It is always fun for me to do so.
